In 2015, couple Chanel Cartell and Stevo Dirnberger decided to wave goodbye to their comfortable life in South Africa, and embark on an adventure across the world. Having visited more than 40 countries (and counting), the nomadic duo share their experiences via their blog, How Far From Home. Their latest exploit brought them to the Netherlands, where they captured the incredible “technicolor wonderland” of tulip season.

In full bloom by mid-April each year, many of Holland’s tulip fields and gardens are transformed into colorful patchwork patterns filled with over 7 million flowers of approximately 1,500 different varieties. Cartell and Dirnberger captured the phenomenon in a series of photographs that showcase the incredible sea of colors, where rainbow rows of pink, yellow, orange, and red stretch far into the distance.
