 Η χώρα του πυρός και του πάγου δεν χρειάζεται να κοστίσει μια περιουσία. Αν και οι τιμές στην Ισλανδία παραμένουν υψηλές, υπάρχουν στρατηγικές που μπορούν να μειώσουν το κόστος έως και 40%.

1. Η εποχή είναι το παν 

Αποφύγετε τους μήνες αιχμής (Ιούνιο – Αύγουστο). Για το 2026, οι ιδανικές “ενδιάμεσες” περίοδοι (shoulder seasons) είναι:

• Απρίλιος – Μάιος: Οι μέρες μεγαλώνουν, αλλά οι τιμές σε ενοικίαση αυτοκινήτων και καταλύματα είναι ακόμα χαμηλές.

• Σεπτέμβριος – Οκτώβριος: Τότε ξεκινούν οι πιθανότητες για το Βόρειο Σέλας, ενώ τα πλήθη των τουριστών έχουν αποχωρήσει.

2. Μετακίνηση & Διαμονή: Το “2 σε 1” μυστικό 

• Renting a Campervan: Η καλύτερη λύση για budget travelers. Συνδυάζετε μεταφορικό μέσο και ύπνο. Υπάρχουν οργανωμένα camping με όλες τις ανέσεις (ντουζιέρες, κουζίνες) που κοστίζουν ελάχιστα σε σχέση με τα ξενοδοχεία.

• Ενοικίαση Αυτοκινήτου: Αν προτιμάτε ξενοδοχεία, κλείστε ένα μικρό 2WD αυτοκίνητο αν σκοπεύετε να μείνετε στον κεντρικό δρόμο (Ring Road). Τα 4×4 είναι απαραίτητα μόνο για τις ορεινές διαδρομές (F-roads).

3. Φαγητό & Ποτό: Επιβίωση με “Pink Pig” 

Το φαγητό σε εστιατόριο στην Ισλανδία μπορεί να κοστίσει εύκολα 40-60€ το άτομο.

• Σούπερ Μάρκετ Bónus: Αναζητήστε το λογότυπο με το ροζ γουρουνάκι. Είναι η πιο οικονομική αλυσίδα. Ψωνίστε προμήθειες και μαγειρέψτε στο camping ή το hostel.

• Νερό από τη βρύση: Το νερό στην Ισλανδία είναι από τα καθαρότερα στον κόσμο. Μην αγοράζετε εμφιαλωμένο – φέρτε το δικό σας παγούρι και γεμίστε το παντού.

• Hot Dogs (Pylsur): Το “εθνικό” γρήγορο φαγητό της Ισλανδίας. Είναι νόστιμο και κοστίζει περίπου 5-7€.

4. Δωρεάν Αξιοθέατα 

Τα περισσότερα φυσικά θαύματα της Ισλανδίας (καταρράκτες, παραλίες με μαύρη άμμο, ηφαίστεια) είναι δωρεάν.

• Αντί για το Blue Lagoon: Η είσοδος στο Blue Lagoon είναι πλέον πανάκριβη (80€+). Προτιμήστε τις τοπικές δημόσιες πισίνες (Sundlaug) που έχουν θερμαινόμενα νερά και κοστίζουν γύρω στα 7-10€, ή αναζητήστε φυσικές θερμές πηγές (hot springs) στη φύση που είναι εντελώς δωρεάν.

• Πεζοπορία και Ποδηλασία: Η διαδρομή γύρω από τη λίμνη είναι επίπεδη και πανέμορφη, ιδανική για μια χαλαρή βόλτα με τα πόδια ή με το ποδήλατο, περιτριγυρισμένοι από έλατα και πεύκα.
