It’s been a long time since anyone came up with a new Christmas song that’s catchy but not annoyingly so, festive but not too cheesy, pop but with an indie spirit. Maybe Mulled have finally cracked the code?A Perfect Christmas is, at its core, a great little pop song. Written and performed by Mulled -who are Eoghan O’Sullivan of Co. Wicklow and David Graham of Co.
It was recorded at Orphan Recording in Dublin, where Gavin Glass and Scott Halliday wrapped it in tasteful tinsel and a sprinkling of sleigh bells. The end result has been described online as “a very happy, bouncy, foot-tapping Christmas tune with excellent pop lyrics!” and “one of the finest indie happy Christmas songs heard….it should be considered in indie terms at least as good as the legendary Belle and Sebastian John Peel Christmas session”.
