A hidden idyllic peninsula, a private pool and a longevity hub that measures your metabolism before it even asks your name. I went to adults-only Minos Palace expecting a nice weekend by the sea in Crete. I left with a body scan, a new breakfast philosophy, and a much better understanding of what “wellness” actually means when someone takes it seriously.

By Eleni Stasinopoulou

I’d already stayed at Minos Beach, the sister property just down the coast, so I thought I had a sense of what to expect from Minos Palace. I didn’t. You cannot understand what this place is hiding until you’re actually inside it.

From the road, even from the entrance, you get no clue. The arrival is impressive on its own, large-scale artworks greet you before you’ve even checked in, then it opens into something vast, a big freshwater pool lined with tall trees and palms. But that’s just the introduction. Walk further and the property reveals its real secret: an entire private peninsula between Agios Nikolaos and Elounda, crystal blue water on every side, rocky decks, little stone stairs leading straight into the sea. It genuinely feels like an island within an island, and the privacy that gives you is not something you can picture from a photo. You have to walk it to believe it.

The stay: Nothing less than an Infinity Lagoon Suite

I stayed in one of the new Infinity Lagoon Suites, part of the resort’s final phase of transformation for 2026, and the concept is a smart one. There’s your own private pool, and then a shared lagoon-style pool that flows between all the suites, so you get seclusion when you want it and a quiet sense of connection when you don’t.

Two sculptural islands sit within the lagoon itself, deliberately echoing the two real islands visible on the horizon, a small architectural wink that I only clocked on day two. Beyond the lagoon, open sea.

It’s a layered view, private pool, lagoon, horizon, and it makes the suite feel far bigger than its actual footprint. Bonus: a large olive tree that offered plush shade throughout the day in the most idyllic way. Of course, I sat under it for hours with my book.

The resort overall has 101 rooms, 12 suites and 9 bungalows, 28 of which come with a private pool, all adults-only. Everything is deliberately grounded in earthy tones and natural materials, which suits the setting rather than fighting it.

The real story: Nao, the longevity hub

Rooms and views aside, the thing that actually sets Minos Palace apart is Nao, the wellness concept the hotel built two years ago, and it’s unlike anything else I’ve experienced in Greece. It’s not a spa in the usual sense. It’s a longevity hub, built around diagnostics, science and a genuinely personalized program rather than a menu of massages.

Nao sends thorough pre-arrival questionnaires, so by the time you land, they already have a working picture of you. Once there, you go through biometric testing and consultations that build out a full personal profile: metabolism, cardiovascular fitness, sleep, stress markers.

We visited two or three times over the weekend. The first session was tests and questionnaires, followed by a conversation with Nao’s scientific team going through the results. The whole program carries the scientific signature of Dr. Evi Hatzianddreou, Director of the Nao Longevity Programme and its Scientific Board, who oversees every treatment and protocol on offer, and what struck me most is that this isn’t wellness dressed up in scientific language. It’s genuinely rigorous, and it’s built to actually be used, not just admired.

Once you arrive at Nao’s genuinely striking facility, your path toward longevity starts properly, and it keeps going after you leave if you want it to. The first evaluation measures your resting metabolic rate, the RMR, through a special mask you wear while you simply lie back and relax. From your breathing alone, they work out how your metabolism behaves in a state of complete rest.

Then comes something I hadn’t experienced before: a body scan platform that slowly rotates while it maps your entire body, giving the Nao team everything they need on fat percentage, where it’s distributed, your body proportions, and more. After that, a run of balance, endurance and strength exercises, plus breathing tests that measure how well you can actually control your own breath. It sounds clinical written down, but in the room it felt more like being properly seen than being tested.

From there, the day softened into the treatments themselves. We tried sound healing, and my husband was asleep within five minutes. Hydrotherapy followed in an indoor pool that’s genuinely beautiful, daylight pouring through big roof windows onto the water below.

Somewhere in between, I found myself under the sensory rain shower, water falling in slow, deliberate rhythms with shifting light and scent built into the experience, and it’s the kind of small, strange moment that ends up staying with you longer than the massage does.

And the massage, honestly one of the best I’ve had, opened with a magnesium leg mask that left my legs completely reset, no heaviness at all.

Nao’s facility itself is a two-floor space with treatment and consultation rooms, a lab, touchless therapy rooms with photobiomodulation and cryotherapy, a meditation area, red sauna and salt room, hot and cold plunge pools, a vitality pool, and that sensory shower tunnel, so there’s real depth here if you want to go further than we did. For anyone wanting to properly commit, Nao runs structured programs from a One-Day Discovery up to a Fourteen-Day Longevity Pro, all built around the same five pillars: nutrition, sleep, movement, self-mastery, and connection.

Days by the water

Away from Nao, the rhythm of the place is simple. You find small private spots shaded by umbrellas, or better, actual trees, with sunbeds tucked away where you genuinely disappear from everyone else.

We spent hours like that, reading, swimming, coming back up, no noise, no crowd. The hotel also has its own blue flag beach if you want sand rather than rock. Bliss.

Breakfast, but curated

This is the detail that surprised me most. As part of the Nao program, you don’t only see a doctor, but also meet with a dietitian who uses your metrics to build a personalized eating plan, then walks you into the breakfast room herself to guide your choices.

I’ll admit I’m not at my best in the mornings and mostly went with instinct. My husband, on the other hand, followed every recommendation and built what I can only call the ultimate healthy breakfast plate. The breakfast room looks straight out over the tip of the peninsula, so the view does some of the convincing for you.

Dinner is split between Amar, the beachside restaurant doing Mediterranean classics with a modern edge, and Mom, the all-day spot built specifically around the wellbeing concept. At Amar, the menu is signed by chef Michalis Marthas, with the view doing half the work before the food even arrives

The dishes that stayed with me were a grilled cauliflower with chickpeas, tomato carpaccio and tarama, simple ingredients handled with real precision, plus their sardines, which were some of the best I’ve had on the island. A nice touch that fits the whole Nao philosophy: you can ask for the nutritional value of anything on the plate at any point, so the wellbeing thread runs through dinner too, not just the spa. Cocktails at Nama Pool Bar are curated by Baba au Rum, a genuine World’s 50 Best Bars name, not a marketing line.

Art worth stopping for

The hotel and Nao are full of works of art but there are two large-scale installations that turned out to have real stories behind them, and both are part of the Mamidaki Foundation’s permanent collection, which supports contemporary Greek and international art across Minos Palace and its sister hotel.

The first is Danae Stratou’s Virtuous Spiral, set in the resort’s gardens: 113 handcrafted ceramic vessels arranged in a swirling formation inspired by the ancient, still-undeciphered Phaistos Disc, each one filled with water that quietly mirrors the Cretan sky. It was made with artisans from Thrapsano, a village with generations of ceramic tradition behind it, so it’s as much a piece about craft and place as it is about the cosmos.

The second, newer to the property, is Chronotopia by the Canadian duo Caitlind r.c. Brown and Wayne Garrett, winner of the Foundation’s 2026 Art Prize and installed this past June above the small beach, facing Agioi Pantes and Mikronisi. It’s built from roughly 1,500 recycled optical lenses forming two arched “sails” of light, and it genuinely changes as you move around it, sometimes reading as sculpture, sometimes as something closer to captured light. It’s not a piece you look at once and move on from. It’s one you walk.

Leaving the peninsula

By the time we drove back off that little strip of land, what stayed with me wasn’t any single detail, it was the sense that everything here had actually been thought through. The lagoon, the science behind Nao, the art standing quietly in the gardens, none of it felt like it was there to impress you. It was there because someone cared enough to get it right. Minos Palace is real natural beauty paired with genuinely high standards, and that combination, done properly, is rarer than people think.

Some weekends announce themselves early. This one did. The company was right, the destination was right, and the resort had a reputation that preceded it by several years and several conversations. Domes of Elounda, Elounda Bay, Crete. One of those places I consider quietly blessed, the kind of geography that makes you understand why people have been fighting over this part of the Mediterranean for centuries.

It was better than expected. Which, given the expectations, is saying something.

First Impressions: Arriving at Domes of Elounda

We walked into the lobby and through a glass door that opened directly onto Spinalonga. Not a view of Spinalonga – Spinalonga. The Venetian fortress, the former leper colony, the mythical island sitting right there across the water as if it had been waiting. As we were told, this is the closest point anyone can get to the island without actually being on it. I remembered, standing there, just how emblematic this view is. You think you know it from photographs. You don’t. It requires you to be in front of it.

In the next days, every afternoon I made my way back up to the lobby terrace, ordered something, and sat watching Spinalonga. Just watching. It doesn’t get old. I’m not sure it could.

The resort unfolds amphitheatrically down the hillside with suites and villas cascading toward the water, that specific green-turquoise of Elounda Bay catching the light between them.

The domes themselves, in their deep terracotta, create an unlikely but perfect chromatic dialogue with the colours of the sea.

The Suites at Core: Private Pools and Local Details

Our suites were in Core complex, featuring private pools, stone as the dominant material, local details everywhere. Embroidered Cretan cushions, ceramics, small gestures that know where they are. There was a book in the room about the history of Elounda, its tourism development from the 1960s and 70s onward, a tourism fairytale actually with political cameos and considerable glamour and with Panagiotis Spanos of Domes Resorts among the pioneers – protagonists. His son Giorgos continues the work today.

My suite had a lovely spacious private terrace and pool looking out over the back bay. Quieter than the front-facing rooms, different light, a view I could have stayed in for days.

The property also has Chora, the adults-only complex slightly further down, sitting almost directly across from Spinalonga. A newer addition that has its own devoted following, and I understand why. If I come back, and I will, I’m trying it

An Unexpected Highlight: The Greek Monsters Exhibition

Born in 2011 during the Greek crisis as a way to reframe Greece’s image abroad through humour and design, the exhibition has since travelled the world.

This is the way to do it. Arriving by sea to a 16th century Venetian fortress, with a guide who tells the story the way it deserves to be told. The history of Spinalonga is staggering in the most human way: the leper colony that became a functioning community, the last active one in Europe, until 1957. We walked it quietly. We were quiet afterward too.

Lunch was the revelation of the trip. Vilebrequin La Plage has taken over the beach at Domes of Elounda, and it has done so with complete conviction. Three acres of secluded beach framed by olive groves, striped umbrellas, hand-painted plates, fresh fish on a wooden pier with Spinalonga across the water. The French Riviera spirit of the 1970s, transplanted to Mirabello Bay and entirely at home.

Dinner that evening at Antonino’s, the Italian restaurant by the main pool, was the other kind of meal, generous and uncomplicated, exactly what you want after a day in the sun and sea.
There are hotels that give you a place to sleep — and then there are those that quietly reset your mood, your pace, your entire outlook. Phaea Blue, tucked between the tiny fishing village of Plaka and the elegant port of Elounda in northeastern Crete, is the kind of place where you instantly breathe deeper.

Here, every element feels intentional: the light, the food, the design, even the silence. Whether you’re after a barefoot escape, a taste of local life, or simply a moment to pause, Phaea Blue meets you there — with soul, style, and a sea view you’ll dream about long after you’ve left.

Phaea Blue is a new chapter of a beloved story: once part of the iconic Blue Palace resort, the space now finds itself re-imagined as a sanctuary of laid-back luxury, just as the rest of the property prepares to transform into Rosewood Blue Palace. But Phaea Blue stands serenely apart — 45 suites only, each one a miniature world of Cretan elegance.

We arrived on a warm morning, bleary-eyed but elated after an early flight, and were immediately enveloped by a kind of hospitality that is harder and harder to find — unforced, heartfelt, warm in the most Greek of ways. Everyone seemed to know us, not just our names but also our whims, our itinerary, our pace. We had just arrived, and yet we were welcomed as if we’d been there for a week — familiar, relaxed, effortlessly understood.
It’s a level of care I’ve met before in other Phaea Group hotels, and each time it still manages to impress.

Our room type was an “Island Suite”, the perfect mix of villa comfort and hotel ease. Soft earth-tone linens, a few well-chosen ceramics, and sunlight flooding in from big windows kept things simple and beautiful. Best of all were the sliding doors that opened straight onto a private terrace where a heated pool framed an endless view of sea and Spinalonga. It was the kind of place where you could spend all day moving between your bed, the pool, and a shady lounge chair without ever needing anything more.

That first afternoon, we swam in the turquoise waters behind Spinalonga, part of a private cruise aboard the hotel’s wooden caique — a relaxed escape that included a light lunch and some of the clearest water we’ve seen in Greece.

And then came something I hadn’t done in years: a divine nap on the terrace sun-lounger, still in my bikini, wrapped in salty skin and soft linen, lulled by the sea breeze. It felt like the very essence of Greek summer — spontaneous, barefoot, utterly free

Craftsmanship with a Cretan Heart

What sets Phaea Blue apart is how deeply it celebrates Greek creativity and local craftsmanship — not in a decorative way, but as a living, breathing part of the experience. Inspired by Cretan heritage and modern simplicity, the hotel’s spaces are shaped by an ongoing dialogue with Greek artisans, makers, and designers. A collaboration with the Benaki Museum ties everything together: coffee-table books, ceramic horse statuettes inspired by the 8th-century Geometric period, and other small treasures turn the lobby into a living gallery where past and present quietly converse.

Philippos Theodorides artwork – the award-winning illustrator, has painted soft, story-rich murals in the Island Suites and Phaea Blue Villa, turning walls into gentle narratives.

Tables With a View (and a Story)

Dining at Phaea Blue feels personal, story-driven, and always rooted in place. Blue Door, the hotel’s traditional taverna housed in a stone fisherman’s cottage, has one of the most enviable settings in Greece — directly opposite Spinalonga, with small fishing boats and sailing yachts gliding by like a moving postcard. Saris, our host, greeted us with a glass of raki, and each dish told a story of the island: sea salt crusted fish, wild mountain greens, and fried zucchini that tasted like home

The Traditional Caique Experience

One of the highlights of our stay was the traditional caique experience — a handcrafted wooden boat that felt more like a floating piece of Greek nostalgia than a tour.

We set off from the resort’s private jetty and sailed around Spinalonga, tracing the island’s outline under the morning sun. At one point, the boat pulled into a hidden turquoise bay, where we dove straight into the water — clear, cool, and endlessly inviting. While we swam and floated, the crew quietly set up a light, elegant lunch on deck: Cretan cheeses, fresh fruit, and chilled rosé, served with the kind of ease and care that makes a simple moment feel unforgettable. It was more than a boat ride — it was a dreamy escape into the slower, softer rhythm of the Aegean.

TheHotelTrotter’s Take

Phaea Blue is not flashy, nor is it trying to be. It’s what I call a slow-luxury experience — a place where everything is curated, but nothing is forced. Where design and culture meet barefoot days and meaningful encounters. Phaea Blue isn’t just a stay — it’s an invitation to experience Crete through authenticity, intimacy, and timeless Greek beauty.

Greece, with its sun-drenched islands and rich history, has long been a popular holiday destination. While many people associate Greece with summer getaways, the country has plenty to offer holidaymakers, regardless of the season. So, if you’re looking at last-minute holidays in Greece and you’re unsure where to start, here are four Greek islands that are perfect for exploring all year round.

Crete

The largest of the Greek islands, Crete boasts a diverse landscape that caters to a wide range of interests. From the bustling city of Heraklion to the stunning beaches of Elafonisi, there’s something for everyone.

Outside of the peak summer months, Crete enjoys pleasant temperatures and fewer crowds, making it ideal for exploring the island’s ancient ruins, hiking through the mountains or simply relaxing on the beach. For those seeking to learn more about Greece’s rich history, the Palace of Knossos and the Archaeological Museum in Lerapetra will not disappoint.

Syros

Located in the Cyclades archipelago, Syros is a lesser-known island that presents a unique blend of traditional Greek culture and cosmopolitan flair.

The island’s capital, Ermoupolis, is a charming town with neoclassical architecture and a bustling cultural scene. Syros is also home to many beautiful beaches, ancient ruins and picturesque villages. The island can be busy during the summer months, so booking a last-minute winter escape could be a good option if you want a quieter getaway.

Corfu

Corfu is a charming island that offers a mix of history, culture and natural beauty. The Old Town of Corfu is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is filled with Venetian architecture, museums and lively squares. In the summer, Corfu is renowned for its vibrant nightlife and beautiful beaches, while autumn through spring can provide a more peaceful atmosphere.

Kefalonia

The second largest of the Ionian Islands, Kefalonia is known for its stunning beaches, rugged mountain ranges and charming villages. Kefalonia is also home to the Melissani Cave, a beautiful underground lake that’s a renowned tourist attraction.

While the island proves to be very popular with holidaymakers during the summer months, it’s generally a lot quieter if you choose to book out of peak season.

Whether you’re looking for a family-friendly break, a romantic getaway or an adventure-filled holiday, Greece has something to offer everyone. By choosing one of these four islands, you can enjoy a memorable holiday no matter when you decide to visit.

Experiencing the ultimate adults-only resort in Crete at Numo Ierapetra. Enjoying serene beaches, luxurious amenities, and exquisite dining in this beachfront paradise

There’s a unique magic in stepping into an adults-only resort in Crete and leaving the city’s hustle and bustle behind. It’s like entering a parallel universe where everything slows down, and you can finally breathe. I’ve always loved classic hotels with grand facades and expansive lobbies, but summer resorts, especially those on the beach, have a special place in my heart. They offer a microcosm of relaxation and luxury, where you can fully immerse yourself without stepping outside. This time, my escape brought me back to one of my all-time favorites: Numo Ierapetra in Crete. Combining unpretentious luxury, wild landscapes, impeccable taste, and cool vibes, it’s the perfect adults-only retreat.

A Zen Welcome at Numo Ierapetra

From the moment I arrived at Numo Ierapetra, I felt a wave of calm wash over me. Situated on the southern coast of Crete, the resort is perched on a beautiful, somewhat rugged beach with crystal-clear waters, grey sand, and dramatic rock formations. The design here is all about zen simplicity, perfectly complementing the natural beauty. The view of tamarisk trees lining the beach instantly set a carefree summer mood.

Escaping to the best beachfront adults-only resort in Crete: Numo Ierapetra

Check-in was a breeze, with a refreshing welcome drink and cool towels that made me feel like I was already on vacation. The staff were so friendly and relaxed, making the transition from city stress to beach bliss seamless.

Morning Bliss in Crete
My day started at the Tamarisk Restaurant, a charming spot with big ceramic vases and comfy chairs. The buffet was a Cretan feast, full of local delights, that kicked off my day perfectly. I couldn’t help but appreciate the thick shade and cool breeze provided by the tamarisk trees. For us Greeks, tamarisks are the holy grail of beach life—they mean thick, rich shade and symbolize carefree summer days. Numo’s beachfront, with its full row of these magical trees, is one of the many reasons why this resort is my favorite adults-only destination in Crete.

Daytime Delights at a Beachfront Adults-Only Resort in Crete
Deciding between spending the day at the beach or the pool was a delightful dilemma. The beach, with its rhythmic waves, calls to my soul seeking tranquility. Here, the clear waters and soft grey sands invite long, lazy days of sunbathing and swimming. In contrast, the pool area pulses with life, featuring DJ sets and live performances that transform it into a vibrant oasis. Thankfully, there’s also a quiet zone with another pool for moments when solitude beckons, offering a serene escape amidst the lively atmosphere.

One of the highlights of the resort is its balance between liveliness and serenity. Being an adults-only resort, Numo Ierapetra ensures that you can enjoy the company of fellow adults without the usual chaos of family-oriented resorts. Yoga sessions, quiet zones by the pool, and the open-air cinema added to the relaxed yet engaging atmosphere.

Culinary Adventures in Crete
Tamarisk sets the tone from early morning with a lavish buffet breakfast. I start my day with an abundance of fresh ingredients and baked goods, lounging on a beachfront table and planning my perfect day at Numo. By noon, I’m back at Tamarisk for an à la carte lunch featuring the freshest seafood and meze, meticulously prepared at the open cooking stations.

As night falls, Tamarisk becomes a culinary haven. The buffet dinner offers the finest meat cuts, fish, and pasta, with every ingredients sourced from local suppliers. Each dish surprises and delights even the most discerning palates.

For a different dining experience, I also tried the a la carte restaurant Menoa. This cool, candle-lit space offers a fusion menu of Mediterranean, Peruvian, and Asian influences, curated by chef Nikos Kourkoutas. Beef tataki and black cod were among my favorite dishes. And then there are the drinks. The Negroni with oregano and the gin and tonic with herbs from Crete are crafted to perfection, adding a final touch of sophistication to the dining experience.

Evenings of Delight at Numo Ierapetra

After dinner, the open-air cinema was the perfect way to end the day. Under the starry sky, I lounged in a comfortable chair, wrapped in a soft pashmina, and watched feel-good movies (one night it was “Mamma Mia”, another was “The Devil Wears Prada”). It was a brilliant touch by the resort’s owners, capturing the essence of Greek summer nights.

A Cretan resort that offers pure escapism

Numo Ierapetra has perfected the art of being the ideal adults-only retreat. It’s lively enough to keep you entertained but never crosses into chaotic. Imagine lounging by the pool, a gentle breeze carrying the melodies of “Sweet Dreams,” while fellow guests either sway to the rhythm or lose themselves in a good book. It’s a slice of heaven, carefully designed to offer just the right balance of energy and calm.

In the World Network of “Creative Cities” of UNESCO, Heraklion joined the best of the best in Gastronomy, according to an official announcement.

This is a critical success, according to the municipal Authority, and at the same time, a justification of the planning implemented by the Municipality of Heraklion, in cooperation with all relevant bodies, to establish itself as a sustainable gastronomic destination.

For 2023, Heraklion is one of the seven cities from around the world recognised as Creative Cities of Gastronomy by UNESCO. This distinction was the result of the cooperation of the executives of the Greek National Committee for UNESCO, the Municipality of Heraklion and the Development Organization “Heraklion MAE”.

As the mayor of Heraklion, Vassilis Lambrinos, emphasised: “The recognition of Heraklion as a UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy comes as a reward for our choice to place the gastronomy and agro-food of our country at the centre of our tourism policy and confirms the prominence of Cretan cuisine and local products and producers can and should be a key axis in the strategy for strengthening the tourist brand of Heraklion.”

According to the deputy mayor of Development Planning – Digital Transformation – Integrated Rural Development and Tourism, Giorgos Sisamakis: “Heraklion is a multidimensional place with a history and continuous cultural presence of 5,000 years that plans and implements urban development actions in terms of sustainability and resilience.

“Our declaration by UNESCO as a city of gastronomy and our participation in the ‘Creative Cities’ network is a special honour for us. We are committed to consistently continuing the effort to introduce the uniqueness of Cretan cuisine and the Cretan way of life to the whole world, strengthening the touristic identity of Heraklion and our intangible cultural heritage.

“I would like to warmly thank the president of the Greek National Committee for UNESCO, Mrs. Aikaterini Tzitzikosta, and the staff of the Committee, who, from the beginning of the drafting of the file, stood by us with key suggestions and advice so that a competitive nomination could be submitted, but also the Municipality of Thessaloniki, the first city to participate in the network, for its support.”

Regarding the inclusion of Heraklion, the president of the Greek National Committee, Ekaterini Tzitzikosta, said: “The candidacy of Heraklion stood out as it was a multifaceted proposal, with a national and international dimension, but also with a modern sustainable view of gastronomy which is a priority of UNESCO“.

In December, an event will be held in Heraklion to present the city’s inclusion in the UNESCO Creative Cities Network.

KĒPOS by Goco is a luxurious escape standing tall among the best spas in Greece

In our fast-paced world, finding an oasis of tranquility can feel like a quest. Two years ago, I had the fortune of discovering this oasis at Daios Cove. From the impeccable services to the mesmerizing views, I was instantly captivated. During my stay, the ever-passionate owner, Dimitris Daios, shared whispers of his vision for an unparalleled spa of exceptional standards. Those whispers fanned my curiosity. Fast forward to today, I found myself returning to this cherished spot, ready to “test drive” the realization of that ambitious dream. The experience? Utterly transformative.

Embarking on the KĒPOS by Goco Experience

This groundbreaking initiative is the fruit of an enduring collaboration between two visionaries: Dimitris Daios, the proud owner of Daios Cove, and Ingo Schweder, the CEO of GOCO Hospitality. I was told it took four years of research to shape this retreat, and every moment I spent there echoed that attention to detail, especially tailored for travelers navigating a post-pandemic world.

My Dive into Holistic Wellness

One can read about the teachings of happiness by philosopher Epicurus, but at KĒPOS, I lived it. It wasn’t just about holistic health or high-end sports. It was a mental and physical revival. Each meal, each therapy, and each expert consultation, including insights from specialists in traditional Chinese medicine, felt like a chapter in my personal book of rejuvenation.

Facilities That Left a Lasting Impression

I explored the expansive 2,500 sq.m. area that boasted of an awe-inspiring bay view. The cutting-edge cryotherapy session was a revelation. That cold embrace left me invigorated, casting away my weariness. And the spa suite, vitality pool, and Mind & Body Studio offered a medley of experiences I found hard to leave behind.

Signature Journeys: My Personal Tales of Transformation

Advanced Skin Regeneration by 111SKIN: This wasn’t just a treatment; it was a sensory journey. The aroma of sweet marjoram added to its magic, making every second memorable. My Relaxation Chronicle: The pools were a serenade and the massages? Pure bliss. With every touch, I felt my stresses melt away, leaving behind a rejuvenated me.

Daios Cove’s KĒPOS by Goco isn’t merely a destination; it’s a sanctuary. Having personally experienced its magic, I can say it’s definitely among the best spas in Greece and an ideal destination for those seeking solace, luxury, and a touch of adventure. Would I return? In a heartbeat.

One of Crete’s newest luxury wellness hotels, Acro Suites opened to guests for the first full season in April 2022

Set on the rocky cliff-side of Mononaftis Bay, in Crete, Acro Suites is a 5* luxury boutique resort with 49 suites, lofts, and villas with private pools, all featuring unique design details and sweeping views of the Cretan Sea. To ensure their vision was properly brought to life, the hotel’s owners sought out the best local Greek designers and craftsmen to collaborate with across the property for an authentic Cretan feel. The rough marble details, natural stones and unrefined wood complement the look and feel of the hotel. The final result is a boutique hotel that is well worth travelling for.

With themes of serenity, simplicity and tranquillity running throughout the property, interior designer Manos Kipritidis worked closely with the owners on the Cremnos restaurant and cocktail bar, The Circle. Drawing from the local design and surroundings, the food and beverage offerings feature copper and wooden finishings, earthy tones, custom-made marble dining tables and natural fabrics. The design is pure and minimalist but with attention to detail in the specifics.

Sustainability plays a large role in the hotel’s ethos, with natural materials sourced from Crete such as stones and wood. Sheets and fabrics are all made from organic materials. Food is sourced locally from small farms on the island, all from an organic kitchen with plentiful vegan and vegetarian menu options available. The in-house spa, The Bath House was created with the Greek luxury architectural agency, Utopia Hotel Design. Marrying curved smooth stone with soft natural elements, the layout is based on the shape of a traditional hammam. The oval space plays with light and the element of water with large byzantine marble baths for the ultimate soothing effect. The lounge areas and post-treatment relaxation areas have neutral tones providing a calming environment for guests to relax after a signature treatment. The Bath House also features an outdoor pool and a heated pool for those who would like to relax and refresh after a yoga session in the Asana Yoga Shala. The Asana Yoga Shala is a striking piece of architecture and one of the hotel’s signature buildings dedicated to wellness. Created with bamboo, a naturally sustainable material, the open space interior features a circular design and a variety of environmentally conscious fitness equipment.

Among the hottest hotel openings in Greece, Acro Suites is a lifestyle destination, an oasis of calm for guests to unwind and relax, whilst taking in the magnificent views
