Decca/Blue Note have announced the November 5 release of Still Rising, a unique, 34-track collection by stellar jazz vocalist Gregory Porter. Not only is it his first compilation, but the two-disc set includes five brand new tracks and two new arrangements, alongside existing favorites, covers and duets.

“This is my music up until now, but it’s not a ‘Greatest Hits,’ says Porter. “They often come at the end of someone’s career, and I still feel new and young in mine. I have much more to say. There is always something in an artist’s career that people don’t know about; I wanted to bring it to their attention.

“The album title echoes my last one, All Rise, because I am reiterating something evident in my music and the new songs here – this upward-looking optimism about life and love. It’s an unfinished story for me, both musically and personally. And I’m still learning how to do this. Still rising.”

The five new tracks are on the first disc, and are introduced today (1) by the new single “Dry Bones,” written & produced by Troy Miller (Diana Ross, Rag’n’Bone Man, Emeli Sandé). Those are joined on disc one by two new arrangements and nine of Porter’s best-loved songs. Disc two features songs with Paloma Faith, Moby, Jamie Cullum, Jeff Goldblum, Ella Fitzgerald, and many more.

Following her comeback single “Hurts,” Scottish songstress Emeli Sandé blesses us with one of the most anticipated songs off her forthcoming sophomore album, Long Live the Angels.

If you’re wondering why it’s anticipated, well this time it’s for the rap feature, from often elusive MC Jay Electronica, who joins Sandé on the hypnotic track “Garden” along with Áine Zion.

After a spoken intro from Áine, Emeli kicks off the spacey, heavy drum-hitting track, singing about the fantastical feeling and place her lover can take her intimately.

“You make it real, make me feel / Make me feel I’m as strong as steel, and as tall as the mountains / Talk is cheap, you’re asking me / No place I’d rather be, than the back of the garden,” she sings.

Emeli premiered the song on Annie Mac’s BBC Radio 1 show early Thursday, and briefly spoke about the creation of the record. “Garden is one of my favorite songs on the album and we wrote it about two years ago,” she said. “It was produced by Chris Loco, who was one of the first producers I met when I came to London. This is the first time we could just be free to do something very experimental. Ainé recorded her part in New York. And then I came back to London and that’s when Chris and I got in the studio and the song came. And then we met Jay Electronica that summer so it just kind of felt like destiny the different parts of the songs coming together.”

The singer will officially release new cut ‘Hurts’ on September 16, but the latest teaser promises it to be one heck of a dramatic ballad.

“Loving you the way I do, it hurts,” Emeli captioned the new clip, seemingly referencing the song’s lyrics.

The new preview hears grander string stabs alongside the bouncy claps we’d previously heard. Oh and is it just us, or does it also sound a bit Bond theme? That’s no bad thing of course.
Emeli’s long-awaited second album has been teased over the past year, with the Scot revealing in April that she was pretty much done.

Although it was expected last year, the album was apparently pushed back so as not to clash with Adele’s 25.

It follows the mega-selling debut Our Version of Events, which topped the UK charts in 2012 and sold over 2.2 million copies.

Her as-yet-untitled follow-up will see collaborations from the likes of Naughty Boy, TMS and production duo Matt Holmes and Phil Leigh.

Speaking of following her debut, Sandé told The Sunday Times: “For a long time, I couldn’t imagine ever going there again.

“I wanted to sing, but I wanted to do that in a totally different way. If I was going to come back, I had to know I could be an artist and not a product.”

Netsky surprised revelers at London’s Wireless Festival last Saturday with a brand new track from his long awaited third album entitled Thunder… AND a surprise appearance from the vocalist Emeli Sande.

The track debut took place in Wireless’s Pepsi Max stage and was nestled amid a slew of Netsky classics and his recent summertime anthem Rio. It was reported to have gone down incredibly well with both Emeli and Netsky bouncing off each other’s enthusiasm.
