after a five-year hiatus, Prada returned to the Resort schedule with a collection of sporty yet feminine, pastel-heavy looks. The show took place in Milan’s Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, a new exhibition space with zig-zagging wood floors that echoed the collection’s decidedly modern vibe. Models like Natalie Westling walked the runway in futuristic, soccer field-ready looks — tracksuits with poofy statement sleeves, skintight technical knits, jauntily cut zip-up jackets. Then came the would-be workwear: button-downs and shirtdresses with sheer pastel under- and overlays, off-the-shoulder midis featuring the brand’s patented feather-lined cuffs.

Marabou feathers weren’t the only Spring 2017 Prada obsession that carried over — printed sets, asymmetrical button closures, waist-cinching belts and high necklines also made an encore. Whimsical prints (courtesy of illustrator and frequent Prada collaborator James Jean) replaced geometric patterns on shift dresses, hook-ups and handbags.

Eye-grabbing, chainmail-inspired necklaces done in sequins adorned many a model’s neck, but the real post-show buzz centered on the label’s luxe new Velcro sneakers. (Those, and the feather-accented headbands that were half Ziegfeld girl, half something you’d expect to see at Coachella).

One final note: Per Miuccia Prada and Karl Lagerfeld, braids are the new top knots. Per Pat McGrath, minimal makeup with a statement lip is the way to do summer beauty.
