Discovering Cosme, a luxurious beachfront paradise in Naousa, Paros

When city life feels overwhelming, there’s an indescribable longing for a serene escape—where luxury and tranquility coexist in perfect harmony. Cosme, a Luxury Collection Resort in Naoussa, Paros, fulfilled this longing in ways I could have only dreamed of.

First Impressions

Two years ago, I saw Cosme under construction and knew it was destined for greatness. The stunning location and the reputation of the Empiria Group, known for its exceptional hotel concepts, gave me high expectations. Fast forward, and I was thrilled to return for a long weekend to see the completed vision.

As we arrived in Naoussa, the charm of this fishing village immediately set the tone for our stay. A warm welcome from the Cosme staff, who escorted us to the resort, was the perfect introduction to what lay ahead. Walking through the entrance felt like stepping into a beautifully crafted story. The vision brought to life by Stamos Hondrodimos and his team at Interior Design Laboratorium was immediately apparent in the thoughtful blend of traditional and contemporary elements.

At a Luxurious Cycladic Paradise

The lobby of Cosme is an experience in itself. Marble flooring meets white stucco walls, evoking the timeless elegance of a local captain’s house. The decor is a captivating mix of corals from exotic seas, Greek statues, Cycladic wooden furniture, and sumptuous French fabrics. Every detail seems to tell a tale of adventure and tradition, a narrative that resonates deeply with me.

My suite was nothing short of a sanctuary. Stepping inside, I was greeted by custom-made furniture by the renowned Jaime Hayon, each piece meticulously chosen to create an environment of comfort and sophistication. As someone who is always thrilled to spot designer furniture in my hotel rooms, I was particularly enchanted by the attention to detail. The colors—rich shades of olive green, deep burgundy, and the iconic white of Greece—imbued the space with a sense of safety and luxury. The distinctive wallpapers and handmade embroidery pieces added personal touches that made me feel as if I had stepped into a beautifully curated home rather than a hotel room.

A Day at Cosme’s Beachfront Oasis

Each morning at Cosme began with a leisurely breakfast at VOLTA. I quickly fell in love with the Greek Smoothie, a refreshing blend of yogurt, watermelon, and mastic, and the Morning Energy Bowl with oats, tahini, and thyme honey. It was the perfect way to start the day, setting a serene tone for the experiences that awaited.

The half-moon pool became my morning go-to spot. It’s the heart of the resort, offering stunning views of the sea and the charming, whitewashed houses of Naoussa. Floating in its cool, clear water with the gentle sea breeze whispering “relax” was my perfect way to start the day, soaking in those classic Cycladic vibes. After my swim, I headed to Elios Spa for the Aegean Sensation Candle Signature Massage. It was like hitting the reset button. This heavenly massage melted my stress faster than ice cream on a hot day, leaving me feeling completely rejuvenated and ready to dive back into everything Cosme has to offer.

Afternoons were dedicated to beach time. There’s nothing quite like the feel of the pristine Aegean waters on your toes while sipping a cocktail from the CIRCE Bar—absolute paradise! As the sun began to set, I couldn’t help but look forward to dinner at PAROSTIÀ, the beachfront restaurant where each meal is as breathtaking as the view.

Chef Yiannis Kioroglou: A Culinary Maestro

Chef Yiannis Kioroglou’s culinary journey is as impressive as his dishes. With a rich background that includes prestigious stints at La Petite Maison in Cannes and La Guerite in Saint Barth, he has honed his skills at some of Europe’s finest dining establishments. His commitment to honoring his Greek roots and infusing ‘philoxenia’—the Greek spirit of hospitality—into every dish is evident. His creations at PAROSTIÀ, like the slow-cooked chickpea stew (Revithada) and the vibrant Ceviche Salatouri, are not just meals; they are a celebration of flavors and innovation that left me savoring each bite.

But there is more! Every time we returned to our room at Cosme, we were greeted with delightful culinary surprises. From savory spinach pie to local cheese and handmade bread, each treat was a delicious nod to the traditional flavors of Paros. The almond sweets, a local delicacy, were a particular favorite. This thoughtful gesture didn’t stop there—upon our departure, a box of these almond sweets, crafted by the chef himself, was part of our farewell gifts. It was a touching example of authentic Greek hospitality, leaving us with a taste of Paros and the warm, welcoming spirit of Cosme.

The Soul of Cosme: Art and Culture

One of the aspects I love most about staying in luxury hotels is discovering their unique artistic expressions, and Cosme did not disappoint. The resort is a living gallery, with each space thoughtfully curated to reflect the rich culture and natural beauty of Paros.

Margarita Myrogianni’s works, inspired by local fishermen’s nets, sea urchin shapes, and the light of the Cycladic islands, are woven throughout the resort. Her contemporary approach to these themes captures the essence of life on Paros, while classical gravures from the 1800s provide glimpses into the island’s everyday past.

In the reception area, Christina Mandilari’s mural explores the lyrical relationship between nature and people in love, a theme that resonates deeply with the serene bliss of the Mediterranean summer. Everywhere I turned, there was something new and beautiful to discover, from Terpsichore’s hand-painted ceramics to Dimitris Spiros’s biomorphic sculptures that connect art with nature.

Beyond the Ordinary: Unique Experiences at Cosme

Cosme goes beyond offering a luxurious stay; it invites guests to immerse themselves in unique experiences that celebrate the spirit of the Greek islands. The private beach club, stargazing terrace, and Anthologist Boutique, with its collection of artisanal objects, all reflect the resort’s commitment to providing an authentic and enriching stay.

Exploring the pristine waters of Paros on the resort’s private catamaran was a highlight, as was the private beachfront dining, where the sound of the waves provided the perfect soundtrack to an unforgettable meal.

A Personal Reflection: A Weekend to Remember

Reflecting on my weekend at Cosme, I’m struck by how deeply it connected with my desire for a tranquil escape. The resort’s dedication to blending tradition, design, and genuine Greek hospitality created a sanctuary where I could truly relax and reconnect with nature and myself.

Cosme is more than just a place to stay; it’s a destination that captures the heart and soul of the Cyclades. From its stunning beachfront location to its reimagined local cuisine and serene ambiance, it’s a place where every detail is crafted to offer an unparalleled experience of elegance and serenity.

For anyone seeking a perfect blend of luxury, culture, and relaxation, Cosme promises an unforgettable escape that will linger in your memories long after you’ve left its shores. It’s a dream realized, a place where you can leave your worries behind and immerse yourself in the beauty and tranquility of Paros.
