One of those beaches that looks even better from above and Elix has exactly that view.
Karavostasi is the reason this part of mainland Greece deserves far more attention than it receives. Below the green hills of Thesprotia, a broad sweep of pale shore meets the intensely coloured Ionian Sea, with very little development interrupting the landscape. MarBella Elix sits dramatically above it rather than directly at sea level. Getting down to the water via the hotel’s funicular is part of the experience: the blue becomes progressively bigger until Karavostasi fills the view.
It has the scale and colour we often associate with the Ionian islands, yet without the same summer crowds. For travellers who think Greece’s great beach hotels are necessarily on an island, Elix is a persuasive counterargument.
