As Christmas drew closer, younger members of the community joined in too, when the resort invited children from a local orphanage to spend a day at the hotel during which they played games, sung carols, and participated in a cooking class which ended with a delicious meal, sweet treats, and gifts. Consciously acting with Corfu in mind, before the new year was rung in, the resort offered gifts to its young friends at the Corfu Special Education Center which helps children with down-syndrome. These gifts had been donated as part of the Treasure Chest Tea initiative, where children could donate a Christmas present to someone in need.
