“For having created new poetic expressions within the great American song tradition”

Bob Dylan has been awarded this year’s Nobel Prize in Literature. He joins a list of previous winners that also includes Toni Morrison, Gabriel García Márquez, Samuel Beckett, and more. Dylan was awarded the prize “for having created new poetic expressions within the great American song tradition.” The prize comes with a cash award of 8 million Swedish kronor (over 900,000 U.S. dollars).
