Carl Cox and Nile Rodgers have teamed up on the funky dance number ‘Beat The Track‘.
Cox, an Ibiza institution at the legendary Space nightclub, offers the plotted-out beats while Rodgers’ signature guitar and bass elements appear in a more freestyle form than what he usually composes. The result is a track has the sound of a classic with a rhythm that would make anyone get on the dance floor.

Cox said the project came together after meeting Rodgers at industry events, and credited the song’s spontaneity to Rodgers’ comfort in the studio:

“He was playing all these riffs, enjoying himself, sitting on the sofa playing guitar. We were recording it. And we managed to find this piece he was so happy with, and we turned that into this record.”

Rodgers brings an impressive resume of musical output with him to the collaboration – he oversaw production on Madonna’s iconic album Like a Virgin and was a member of 70s disco group Chic. Additionally, he experienced a career renaissance by working with Avicii and Pharrell Williams. Carl Cox is an Ibiza mainstay, with a presence on the White Isle for many decades. The pairing of the disco legend and the dance legend couldn’t have come any sooner, and the result speaks for itself.
