Design visionaries Elastic Architects win gold accolade at IDA 2022 for their transformation of Isla Brown Corinthia hotel in Greece
Elastic Architects and the Isla Brown Corinthia hotel in Peloponnese, Greece have taken home a gold accolade in the Architecture/Hotels & Resorts Design category at the International Design Awards (IDA) 2022. The IDA, founded by the Farmani Group in 2007, recognizes and celebrates design visionaries and emerging talent in architecture, interior, product, graphic, and fashion design.
The Isla Brown Corinthia hotel, a member of the Brown Hotels Group portfolio, was designed by Elastic Architects as part of an energy efficiency plan. The hotel’s iconic 1970s Hanikian building was transformed into an organic form inspired by the myth and topography of the Corinthian Gulf.
The hotel’s design emulates the lava fluidity inspired by its adjacency to the Sousaki volcano. The curved façade surfaces create a visual brand language and draw inspiration from white sea pebbles. The hotel boasts 166 rooms, a sea view lobby, indoor bar, all-day restaurant, gym and spa, children’s park, and an infinity rooftop pool, among other amenities.
Elastic Architects is an award-winning firm of architects and interior designers based in Athens with offices in London, Toronto, Dubai, and Cyprus. The company specializes in designing high-end resorts and hotels, with a portfolio of international and domestic projects and clients such as Aman Resorts, Marriott, Brown Hotels, and Banyan Tree. The IDA gold accolade is a testament to their innovative and thoughtful approach to hotel design.
