It’s been well worth the wait, five years in fact, since the last solo release from Liverpool’s Miles Kane and oh, boy! it’s good. From the underlying piano melody to his trademark hook-laden guitar riffs, there’s an indisputable sense of energy as he purrs and snarls through this punchy and catchy record. Released last Friday and written with Lana Del Rey and Jamie T, Loaded is the first track to be taken from his forthcoming new album Coup De Grace on Virgin EMI and was immediately added to nine Spotify New Music Friday playlists, as well as numerous indie and rock editorial playlists. After receiving its premiere last Monday on Annie Mac’s Radio 1 show, the track has been added to Radio X’s daytime playlist and garnered online tastemaker praise from the likes of NME, Clash, Gigwise, and DIY magazine among others. Next month Miles will set off on a UK tour ahead of the release of his up and coming album that will include two sold-out dates at London’s Moth Club (28 & 29 May). If Loaded is anything to go by then his shows and new album will be pretty special.
