The Old Markets enjoys a coveted position on the register of Greek National Monuments and has nestled at the heart of Symi’s elegant harbour since the Island’s halcyon days as an affluent sponge trading centre.

Today every building in the port is protected by a national preservation order; a living amphitheatre framed by the endless blue of the Aegean sky and sea.

In its heyday, The Old Markets or Agora (meeting place) was the heart of the town, with many trades taking place within its galleria of shops.

The structure of the building has been carefully respected, restored and repaired, while the shop units have been converted to provide large, comfortable rooms preserving the original features.
