James Ford and Jas Shaw of Simian Mobile Disco announced the band’s fifth studio album, Welcome To Sideways, this morning via Facebook. The LP, due out November 11th via the band’s own label, Delicacies, is the first full length since Whorl, which was recorded live in Joshua Tree in the spring of 2014. In the time between records, Ford has been focused on production work for big ticket names like Florence + The Machine and Mumford & Sons while Shaw has been continually working on solo material released on the band’s imprint.
Set to include SMD’s recent singles released this year along with a majority of unreleased material, Welcome To Sideways should be yet another exhibition of the driving, intelligent techno found on the duo’s Delicacies compilation LP released in 2010. In their announcement, Ford and Shaw promise the new record is “aimed squarely at the dancefloor.”
