The current demand for personal protective equipment is unprecedented. Working with local medical and R&D shops, New Balance has created a general-use face mask to help meet the needs of medical professionals. The mask, which will ideally meet FDA requirements, will be produced at the company’s Lawrence, MA and Norridgewock, ME factories. NB’s goal is to make 100,000 units every week, with distribution handled in coordination with local medical facilities and state authorities. While pricing has not been announced, New Balance is aiming for break-even pricing and/or donations and is further working on gowns, foot coverings, and other PPE items.
